Background

Who never used an ELISA or a Western Blot in a biology lab? Probably only a few researchers. But who is aware that some platforms provide an even better assay format that can do the same for a fraction of the overall cost and time?

Launched 20 years ago for high throughput screening, HTRF has demonstrated its ability to screen massively compound libraries. Nowadays however, HTRF assays are used in much wider space, e.g. from target identification to compound characterization and their implementation progresses significantly in basic research due to their ease of use in routine lab operations.

From a biology prospective HTRF can enable most molecular interaction detection: cell signaling pathway detection (e.g. phosphoproteins, second messengers), receptor binding and function, secreted biomarkers, protein-protein interactions, epigenetic modifications.

This seminar's goals

This seminar intends to help researchers get started with HTRF, share the basics, show them how it can be an alternative to existing technologies such as ELISA or WB, and how their research projects can be speeded up and benefit from such a technology approach.

Date & Venue

Monday, October 7th (afternoon) to Wednesday, October 9th (morning). Hosted at the IGF, Montpellier.

Who should attend?

Priority for PhD students and Postdoctoral fellows.

Program at a glance

Attendees will get insights on the following:

  • Time-resolved Fluorescence technologies and more specifically physical and chemical principles behind TR-FRET.
  • How does it work and perform technically.
  • Case studies: field of application in biological studies, e.g. cell signaling, biomarkers, receptor and more specifically GPCR biology.
  • How does it compare to other conventional technologies such as ELISA, WB, radioactivity,
  • Practical course in the wet lab: hands on cell-based phosphoprotein and GPCR assay kits. From assay preparation to measurement.
